This wine’s namesake, Sam and Jess’ beautiful daughter Freyja, has gotten a year older, and with that has fully embraced the whirling tornado of the toddler years.

Semillon grown from our little block in the Swan Valley picked on the third weekend of January 2023. Crushed and pressed to stainless steel tank, fermented for three and a half weeks, transferred to a six-year-old oak barrique to undergo élevage for 10 months. Made with no additions of any kind. 

This wine closely follows in the footsteps of the 2022 vintage, displaying finesse and quality that betray the often questionable name of Semillon in today’s wine-drinking zeitgeist. 

It has a nose of sweet pool water, subtle petrichor, strawberries and cream and honey. A smooth and silky mouthfeel whilst remaining rich and concentrated. It’s slick and unctuous, almost syrupy, with some ripping acidity and concentrated saline minerality. It packs notes of blueberry, Sorrento lemon pith and boiled lolly sweetness. 

‘Real fucking good’ is a succinct (and slightly drunken) note taken from our time tasting the wine in the warehouse.
