Bang a gong! We are on! The Bombo is back baby. It never went anywhere, but it’s definitely back for round four.
An assemblage of various declassified red parcels (Chateau da Swan and Vino di Gino), though it does not suffer for it. Throw in some fun carbonically macerated early-pick Grenache (picked on the first weekend of February), and a splash of skin contact Semillon (from the TJ) for good measure. Bottled with a dash of sulphites for pourability and longevity.
A coupla percentages:
94.5% Grenache/5.5% Semillon 94.5% stainless/5.5% oak elevage 38% carbonically macerated Grenache
On the schniffer it’s perfumed and lifted with a bunch of cab-mac strawberries and cream. Erotic and enticing... beckoning like a greek siren from the myths of yore. With a dash of rose petal. On the palate it has a beguiling garrigue herbal structure and phenolics. Ripe red plum, ume yusui, slippery plum skin tannin. Just immaculate and all encompassing with its mouthfeel. It’s spritely, demure and ready for a party like a friday night of a long weekend.
Like previous vintages of its ilk it is still the perfect entry level cuvee to have on by the glass but contains enough pomp and complexity to captivate.
